Brian and Justin in the Xenaverse: Babylon Edition
I normally avoid S6 of Xena like the plague because it hurts too much, but I watched a video today that made me have an orgasm want to pin down what episode it was from, Xena and Gabrielle doing an erotic dance omg it killed me dead.

And I saw yet another reason why Xena is Brian and Gabrielle is Justin, so for [profile] gmta_nz and any closet Brian and Justin in the Xenaverse fans who are lurking here:

Xena does the knee bend dancing thing too!

Once you know the truth, it's inescapable.

Any clues on this icon, if that's Gabrielle under her and what ep it's from? I was thinking it was Who is Gurkhan, but I can't find a screen cap that looks like this. I'm lost.

Yes it is. Gabrielle has just finished her little hot dance and attacks Gurkhan. Xena covers her to protect her.

Sexy episode. Dark, but sexy.

I have repressed most of it too, but I remember this one because I actually know one of the harem girls, believe it or not :)

I stopped watching Xena (yeah okay, I have a thing for birds in leather and armour-sue me!) shortly after Callisto allegedly died for the final time. I saw maybe one or two episodes in 1997 but they made no sense to me, so I quit watching television almost altogether. (I had also been a big X-files fan, and Bab 5) There were other circumstances...life changing weirdness, but I do see the parallels and it's interesting how close the two shows are thematically.

I 've said that QAF was a spanish language telenovela told in English and 513 pretty much proved it.

Xena for me has the edge because of the hot girl on girl action they never lost sight of/denied what they were: a comic book brought to life.

QAF was just all over the place in that respect.

Did you ever see my Ten Reasons Xena and Gabrielle are Better than Brian and Justin?

Xena was refreshing. Women that seriously kicked ass...sort of like Lara Croft in leather. :-)
This show, like Buffy the Vampire slayer, never took itself all that seriously. They weren't trying to produce gay icons. QAF tried to and alienated a sizeable chunk of the audience. I think if you compare s1 of QAF (and I am really thinking 120 here) to Xena there are some distinct macro and micro parallels to be made. QAF's main failing I think was just trying to damn hard and to shock.

You know, someday, all those scraps of lovescenes fucking that didn't make it to the final cut will find a way onto the internet. I'm sure the outtakes are just as interesting as the aired stuff.

I'm surrpised they haven't already. And I want that tell-all book. I can't believe so many queers are keeping secrets so well.

I have a friend who very, very slightly knows Peter Paige, and I asked him if he could subtly find out if Gale and Randy had an affair, and he just looked at me like, ummm, no?

I tell ya. Friends these days.

You saw the video? I mean, if you have ANY, and I mean ANY, tiny little shred of lesbianic DNA, that video should make it tingle.

I don't mean you personally. Just, you know, in general.

Then again, what do I know? My lesbianic DNA makes me think these things.

Who knows? I had a friend years ago who told me she thought I was "bi-curious." So, I must have set her off somehow. Maybe there is something in my DNA. Might need a microscope to see it, but...lol

Intrigued
Xie, I have never watched Xena (ok, don't throw things at me, I don't watch alot of television....and my 22 year old neice got me addicted to QAF.."please please watch this with me, you are a liberal you can handle it"), but now I am completely intrigued. I just read your 10 reasons as to why Xena and Gabrielle are better than Brian and Justin. The knee bend thing totally turns me on in pretty women and pretty men, so now I am going to have to do what I did with Xena that I did with QAF.......my neice asked me to watch it with her during season five. I hated Brian and Michael's whining annoyed the utter crap out of me, and stopped watching after S5 episode 7, but then my analytical side kicked in, and I became intrigued. I went to Blockbuster and started with S1....and 12 days later having watched S1-S4 (yes I have a job and children, but my kids were with their dad for his half of the summer and who needs sleep when there are such pretty pretty men to watch) and picking back up with episode 8 of S5 I was hooked beyond all reason. I think it may happen again.....dammit why do I have to become such a freaking geek and research everything when something intrigues me......

Re: Intrigued
Please don't hate Brian! You don't hate my Brian anymore, do you?

Xena is addictive. It is stylistically nothing like QAF, but thematically they are very closely related. And Xena/Gabrielle=Brian/Justin. It's UNCANNY.

I wrote more about it here, if you really are addicted interested.

Re: Intrigued
So, remember where I said the writers didn't create these characters, that the characters already existed? They didn't create the story, either. And that means they don't own it, and they can't tell us how it ends. These stories belong to anyone who hears and sees them, and anyone who wants to tell them.

Ok, thank you for this...I have such problems with S4 and especially S5 with QAF. I cried so hard to watch Brian dancing alone. I hated COWLIP for taking something wonderful and using for a crap agenda.

As for hating Brian....ummmm no darlin let me put it to you this way and you can judge for yourself: I wanted to comfort him when his father died; I wanted to kiss his forehead and rub his neck and not say a danm word when he threw the party for Mikey; I wanted to sit with him in the hospital after the bashing; I wanted to kiss him again and give him a loving smile when he brought his mom flowers; I wanted to be underneath him experiencing the danger...the excitement (ok a bit wrong to go from mother to rough sex); I wanted to kick his ass (and Justin's) when he didn't fight for Justin; I cried for him when he hired the look alike hustler; I smiled a devious smile at him when Justin was the intern; I cried again when he and Justin were back where they belong, and I was never more proud of him than when he sacrificed everything.

Does that answer your question as to wheather or not I still hate Brian :-)

umm and after reading your disertation, I loved it, yeah....addiction forthcoming. Blockbuster is on my way home from work.

Plans
Hi,

I just wanted to tell you that I just read Plans, start to finish and I think it is the most well written story in QAF fandom that I've read in a very long time (probably since Myrna and Lane). I laughed my head off at the POV of Melanie. You really made me love her and in most fanfics she is never really seen in a good light. Are there other BJ stories that you've written that I may have missed? I love your writing style and the story PLOT that was one of the few original at this point.

Anyway, thank you for such an enjoyable peice and I hope you'll be doing some more. I'm a fan of the BJ fics (and a Brian lover) and I appreciated the POV's alot.

One thing I forgot. Thank you for checkingthe story for typos and character consistency.

Re: Plans
Wow, that's the kind of feedback I live for that makes a writer get a huge ego... I'm sort of speechless.

OK, I'm never speechless. Let's just face reality.

Thank you so much for your lovely words and yes, I am writing more, and you're welcome for the typos and character consistency thing, but you definitely also need to thank my beta, gmta_nz.
