Very nice, although the sobbing boots are sad. I really hope you can get them fixed in time, somehow. They're very cool. I love that friggin buckle!

Yes, WOE WOE WOE IS XIE!

I love this fandom, if I posted about this huge personal loss and painful emptiness on my blog I would be mocked as shallow.

I would be mocked a shallow That, I'm sure is just an expression of joy that it's not their beautiful boots that's broken. Probably also envy that they don't have a pair and if they do they don't look as good wearing them.

I'm sorry for your loss, Xie, and I wish you happy NYC-shoe-shopping.

fandom and tragic losses
if I posted about this huge personal loss and painful emptiness on my blog I would be mocked as shallow.

And your blog is read by callous individuals who do not understand what feeds the human soul. My dearest darling. I weep with you at the loss of your precious boots perhaps I am also weeping at the loss of my fantasy of you in those boots and the inspiring shivers that accompanied that image .

*holds you in your time of need*

Please console your self with shopping in NYC. Now is not the time to question why did you experience this tragedy, but to ponder the beauty and love of what lies ahead....You, Femme, other fangirls that share your desires, warmer weather and a chance to gaze at the beauty that is a certain very tall and very lovely man....all of this while in the Mecca of shoes.

Do you think the fandom will turn on me if I confess I'd give up a chance to meet Gale Harold to shop for shoes?

Well, at least you know I wouldn't. Meeting Gale...lovely yet fleeting....shoe shopping...holy and precious.

Re: fandom and tragic losses
If I could actually meet him.... like, have him not know I knew who he was, sit next to him on a plane or something, I'd be interested in that. Not HUGELY interested, but I'd find it intriguing.

But to just stand around the stage door and see him sign autographs, not so much.

Exactly. If I could meet Gale Harold sure. Funny thing is though, even if I sat next to him on a plane not knowing who is was I would be very careful NOT to make eye contact with him. You know until spilled my drink on him or some other embarrassing fiasco and then I have to make eye contact to apologize and am trying to open up a conduit that would suck me out of the plane yet not harm any of the other passengers.

But to just stand around the stage door and see him sign autographs, not so much. I might find that intriguing from a people watching viewpoint, but not a meeting Gale viewpoint.

Clearly, the only thing to do is acquire a new pair of even more fabulous and wallet-withering boots- in NEW YORK!

If it weren't the expensive and high-end sort, I'd suggest doing some kinky artsy thing to patch it up (lots of leather and twine), but they look too elegant for that sort of thing.

I once considered opening an RL blog on LJ, but then wondered what the eff I'm going to post in it ^_^

RIP Boots of Xie

Sigh, I know, these are not the right boots for that treatment. I don't really understand why the zipper can't just be replaced with a new zipper, but the shoe repair guys had all sorts of reasons, and I actually had my mom take them in for me while I was downtown buying my new sandals, so I didn't talk to them directly.

Even if I found some shoe repair guy who would do it, I doubt there's time any more.

OH ZAPPOS HOW COULD YOU SELL OUT OF MY SIZE???

Be not shallow, but a visionary for truth and enlightment
I love this fandom, if I posted about this huge personal loss and painful emptiness on my blog I would be mocked as shallow.

I've been pondering this post since I saw it yesterday and I believe I have found a way for you to share your pain with the rest of the world without appearing the least but shallow. During my nightly bout of insomnia, (during which time I do my best thinking), I was struck with an idea.

(Get ready for the world's longest sentence, as this is how my thoughts flow late at night.)

If you approached this problem from the socioeconomic point of view of the working woman with limited disposable income, you could present this as a study in which you compared the cost of manufacturing a kick-ass pair of boots (with a defective zipper that cannot be repaired. Bastards!) against the cost of having to travel to New York city to replace said boots with a completely different style, due to the fact that the manufacturers cannot produce a like copy in an adequate period of time.

Your study, once completed, could then be then be presented to the general public. This way, you could adequately satisfy the issues to be addressed by your blog:

Current events -The need for said pair of boots that must be worn in order to see the wonder that is Gale Harold Brian on stage;

Science - This is research, after all, done at considerable personal cost to you, that will eventually benefit all of womankind;

Media - The reporting of your findings to the concerned public. You are, after all, a journalist who is so decicated to her profession that your willing to undertake an assignment that will impact every boot wearing woman world wide. (think global, act local=Bonus points for you!);

Culture - the ramifications for women who must appear in public without wearing said kick-ass pair of boots;

Dogs - If you are grieving said pair of boots, this could have a severe impact on time that could be better spent devoting all of your love and attention to your dogs;

Politics - This is perhaps the most important area. By addressing this situation in a public forum, you are forcing the politicans, whose job it is to serve the public good *laughs*, to publically redress said tragedy and keep it from ever happenig again. I'm sure that Gale will be in another play and you'll need shoes for that as well

So go forth and post. The world needs to be know!

My work here is done.

Step back sweetie, 'cause I'm gonna play dirty.

“Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” -T.S. Eliot

A wise and extraordinarily talented writer once used these words as inspiration for the most spectacular story ever written that chronicles "teh love" of the OTP, BrianandJustin.

all hail the Goddess Xie

In the spirit of compromise, I'll give up the *pinch on the ass*, but the *kiss on the cheek* still stands.

Oh my god, Xie, you have the best taste in shoes... :) Well, you could always do like Julia Roberts did in "Pretty Woman" and use a safety pin to hold the boot zipper closed... :)

Sigh. If the zipper would zip, yes. But the teeth won't meet. I still don't understand why they can't just put in a whole new zipper.

Someone told me about a shoemaker - an actual shoemaker - who might be able to fix them. Or Zappo's might get more in. Or maybe I'll find them somewhere else. I just wish I'd have them in New York.

I shall have to find something else in NYC to console myself. ;)

Maybe a shoemaker could fix the shoes... there's usually one that's been around a long time, like the one I know (40 years). Either that or a seamstress... ;)

Good luck in finding a new, cute pair of shoes to wear in NYC!
