How Do You....

How do you make a short entry and then click on it to read the extended entry? I write a lot, I'm thinking I shouldn't be doing that - does that mean my entire post is showing up on someone's friends page? Am I violating lj etiquette?

also, you're only just NOW finding Plum's fic? She is sooo fabulous.

Well, yes, but I've also only just now started reading fan fic... her story "Framed" was the very first. Ever. Of any kind. I'm in a state of advanced shock.

Also, I enjoyed the entries I read in your LJ as I visited and I'm going to friend you if that's ok. ;-)

Yes, it is, and thank you for asking - should I ask people before I friend them? I'm treating it like a bookmark system, basically, if I see a journal I want to go back to I "friend" it. Should I ask first from now on?

Your kidding me! But what a great one to start with :D Plumsuede is the first and practically only author of multi-chaptered bj fic I've read more than one story of (I'm almost afraid to admit that since I'm surrounded by fic!whores). She was also one of my first friends in fandom and I didn't realize she was virtually as new as me to fandom at the time (I think we both found LJ around August 2004). She was writing her very first QaF fic called Everything at Once which followed events of S4 (during its hiatus) and it was beautifully crafted storytelling at its best. I don't consider reading Plum's longer QaF stories like watching the TV show at all, since they bring things to life that no teleplay ever possibly could and in the most entertaining and also emotionally intense way possible. I also trusted her love and respect for B/J (and virtually all the principal characters) implicitly from the start. There are many authors who show their obvious and total hatred for one or more of the main QaF characters and it's not something I get a perverse thrill out of.

PS I'd say 80-90% of people friend without asking if you don't have a FLocked journal but it's nice/cute when they do :)

Teary, I got a livejournal account in the first place to post a question to your journal - you are actually to blame for my downfall.

Note how much time I spend looking for people to blame?

Well, yes, but I've also only just now started reading fan fic... her story "Framed" was the very first. Ever. Of any kind. I'm in a state of advanced shock.

Well, I'm not that far behind you. I only found fanfic last fall. And lemme just tell you, my icon idoes not lie. I used to read actual books. Like 4-6 books per week. Granted, these weren't "War and Peace" or anything, just your basic mystery or chick-lit, but still.... actual books! If I've read 15 books since finding fanfic, I'd be surprised. I can name seven books for sure. *iz pathetic* *worse, does not care....*

You set the bar high by beginning with Plum's fic (because there is definitely plenty of crap!fic, out there, too). I started with Ethan and Myrna. As someone said to me, I think it was Paddies, "I feel kind of envious that you're just starting out and have all this incredible fic in front of you!" I know what she means. Oh! You've also got to, *got to* read [livejournal.com profile] luceononuro's fics. So beautiful. You're welcome to cruise my Memories if you'd like. I've also got a several page long word.doc completely filled with LJ addresses and other fic site addresses that I found and wanted to make sure I didn't forget. I learned the hard way how difficult it can be to re-find a site when you got there by clicking on a link and then clicking on another link and then clicking on another link. By then, you've read 3 new stories and who the hell remembers where you started? lol And [livejournal.com profile] quinn222's epistolic fic. She's a master manipper (like Teary) and makes an update every day. Begin with "Memos," then "Correspondence," (might be my fave) then "Adventures," then "Interludes," and now we're in "Changes." In other words, if you can't tell: Go to work, feed & walk your dogs, and then plop in front of your computer for the next six months and read read read!!! ;-DDD

Oh, and no, it's not necessary to ask before friending. I do like to mention it when I friend someone though. And I like to know when someone friends me so I can be their friend, too. *is also a sap...*

[identity profile] xie-xie-xie.livejournal.com 2006-05-07 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
OK, I bookmarked both of those. I have a folder in my bookmarks where I save anything that i want to go back to, but it's all a chaotic jumble. In my ha ha spare time I'll have to organize it or something. LOL, that'll happen.

It's already gone ... is it archived anywhere else?

Well, you know, I thought originally I'd read it was coming down at the end of April, but then I read something else that said the end of May. Anyway, yes. I've got them and will email them to you if you'll tell me your email addy. If you don't want to put it here (and I didn't bother to check your user info to see if it's in there, you can email off LJ at court1429 at yahoo dot com and I'll send'em right back to you.

as also here:

http://qaf-fic.com/atp/viewuser.php?uid=348

Must read "Songs in the Key of Love" series (3 huge parts)

London - his serial you can find here:

http://www.whatlovemeans.com/london.html

Morpheus - her site is rather confused:

http://www.morpheusqaf.com/index.html

Well, that's it!

Those stories haven't been presented at QAF_retread yet. Check this community, you will not regret.

[identity profile] harka.livejournal.com 2006-05-07 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, London's stories are "off".
