Thirty-day fan fic meme: Day 20
I never finished this. Ooops! It's the 30-day fan fic meme. Picking up at Day 20...

20 – Do you ever get bunnied/inspired from other people's stories or art in the same fandom?

Graphics -- icons, wallpapers, banners and even a mug have all been inspirational to me. I can't think of a time that I was inspired by someone else's story -- that would seem odd to me.

This is the mug that inspired my story Pulse Point. It was a gift from [livejournal.com profile] happier_bunny.

21 – Sequels – Have you ever written a sequel to a story you wrote, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?

22 – Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?

23 – When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?

24 – Betaing – How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your story? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?

25 – Music – Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" to write your story? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?

26 – What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to research for a story?

27 – Where is your favorite place to write, and do you write by hand or on the computer?

28 – Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether writing together, or having an artist work on a piece about your story?

29 – What is your current project or projects?

30 – Do you have a favorite story you've written? What makes it your favorite? And don't forget to give us a link!

*sigh* Pulse Point was the very first thing I ever read from you. And I think I took the chance because of the photo. It must have inspired me to read a story where Justin was a paramedic just as much as it inspired you to write it. ;)

I don't write for the fandom (either QAF or ATWT/Lure) but I do a lot of beta work, and I love to comment. I write on my own. Maybe someday I'll feel brave enough to share it with the world. I don't know how good I'd be with criticism. I don't have a very thick skin, unfortunately.

But I do get inspired while reading other people's work. Sometimes some small little detail will set my mind in a whole new direction, and a whole side-story creates itself in my head. For instance, a writer mentioned a set of rocking chairs that a Father had made for the son, as another character was walking by them on the porch. That was it, just a little aside that they were there. My mind started racing about the Father making those chairs at the farm with his own hands, where he got the wood, why he presented them with the chairs, how he didn't accept their relationship at first and this was his way to saying it without words, how those chairs have come to mean so much to the couple, etc. how the doctor boyfriend ended up being with the Father when he died and they had a special talk, and how sitting in the chair to read his journals had become very important to the boyfriend. Pretty soon, a whole Chair!fic was born in my head. LOL
