I've been thinking a great deal lately about the process of writing fan fiction, and I'd very much like to hear the experiences of those writers on my list.

These questions apply to any and all fandoms; they are about the writing process itself, and are not fandom-specific. And they refer, except where otherwise specified, to work you've posted somewhere, not just work you've written for no one but yourself.
