The truth is out there. But is the video?

Hello, darlings.

Thank you to everyone for your kind comments on my last post -- I'm slowly but surely responding to them all.

Back when I first got into fandom, I went through what I've come to call "Brian/Justin fast forwarding syndrome," in which a viewer simply fast forwards through anything that is not Brian and Justin. (A more extreme version of this syndrome is "Brian/Justin sex scene fast forwarding syndrome.")

But when I started writing fiction, and watched the show to help me craft better stories and achieve better characterizations, I realized just how inextricably all the different story lines and characters were linked, and that it's not really possible to understand just what's being said about Brian and Justin in a given arc or episode without fully grasping everyone else's storyline, too. It's one of the reasons I began to love Season Five, by allowing all the stories to relate to and reflect on each other, instead of just having tunnel vision and only watching the B/J.

And that's all true and very nice and helpful and wonderful and of course, being such a well-balanced, thorough, conscientious writer is a huge goal of mine and I'll never turn my back on it and everything BUT.... given the craphole that is my life right now, I say, fuck it.

Ever since I was a tiny newborn fangirl I've heard of a wondrous video file that was just Queer as Folk's Brian/Justin scenes and story lines. Not just the sex scenes, but their stories. I want to watch it. I want it bad. In fact, I need it. I'm pretty sure if that file were ever made available to me it might be just what I need to heal up this last aching void where my creativity used to be and allow me to finish writing "Directions."

Oh Queer as Folk fangirls, is that video nothing but the Holy Grail of fandom? Is it just a unicorn, vanishing into the mists on the horizon? Or does it exist? And if it exists, do you have a copy you could share with me?

You could write her and ask for a copy. There are many copies out there in the fandom world in the hands of the 'old' fans.

I made the video or one of them that was dowloaded back in the day. Amansexbj put it on the computer from my video tapes I made and sent her and hosted it on her site. At the time I didn't know a thing about video making. She has since left the fandom and no longer hosts the site. I'm not sure about the one mentioned below, mine was down-loadable, which is now since only on dvr's. Sadly not on DVD's. I never heard of this other movie, I wish I had, having it all on a dvd would be awesome.

There is a Micheal/Brian and Micheal/Ben downloadable video of the same thing she once hosted (not made by me) others may have taken from her site. People probably have that somewhere too. Not that I think you want it, just for some fyi.

I had that syndrome, too! Still do if I'm honest as I have yet to watch past season two without fast forwarding. My excuse is that I am waiting for my little sister to catch on to the wonder that is BJ. When she does (and she will whether she wants to or not!) we will get together in a big sister/little sister bonding session and watch them all.
I had no idea that particular holy grail existed but it looks like you have plenty of offers to help you get your hands on one. I really hope it helps you get your mojo back. ♥

Well, I don't have them but since others here do, I will just say that they must hurry them to you! There are so many of us that eagerly await more Directions, you know. I know that watching all the Brian & Justin love will inspire your inner fangirl in amazing ways!

*reads through comments* Haha, I'm so amused by us all. We're all the same. Although, I must say I started rewatching season 1 recently and I'm actually watching the entire episodes ... and it does make for better TV. Surprisingly. ;D

I have every B/J scene in the entire series ripped into .avi files on my external HD at home. I could rip them for you on CD and ship them to you if you email me your address. If you have a place to load them online and want to post them for the entire fandom that's cool too. When I made them I had grand aspirations of sharing but I never got around to figuring out how to put them on my domain when I had one (it was really about setting up a webpage all together, time was not on my side).

Here is a c/p of post I made about it in my journal last July:

pretty much the complete history of Brian and Justin with all of the ups and downs and in betweens. All 5 seasons is right at 7GB of clips. Here is how they are divided up:

S1 has 150 files in 22 folders and is 2.12 GB.
S2 has 128 files in 20 folders and is 1.48 GB.
S3 has 86 files in 14 folders and is 1.08 GB.
S4 has 85 files in 14 folders and is 1.12 GB.
S5 has 87 files in 12 folders and is 1.17 GB (had problems with 5.01 and there are few clips I want from that so that will grow just a tad)

My question is how should I divide them up? I have them in indivdual episode folders now but some episode folders have like over 100MB of clips (like 1.01 and other B/J heavy episodes).

I'm so pathetic that I started to make myself a folder of "Top 10 B/J scenes". Well, 10 turned to 15 and 15 turned to 20 and, well - now it's a 3GB folder with like 90 clips in it. *blushes* What?!? You try it. Totally NOT FUN trying to widdle it down. Then again, what I ended up doing really couldn't be construed as that at all...

Email me at cindycr422@gmail.com and I will get on the task of putting them on disk for you. With everything you do for the fandom it's the least I can do.

Sometimes it scares me how much our "Fangirl" experience is so similar. Every time I read one of your comments about how you became addicted to the show, watched the show, etc, I laugh out
loud. If I were to write down my experiences with QAF and fandom, it would look like I plagarized your journal. I call it "MY world, according to Xie".

The similarities between our loved ones and our roles in their current health issues isn't as humorous, but still makes me catch
my breath when I can actually feel what you are going through.

I want that video. I want to watch it. I want it bad. But, more than that, I want you to have it.

To all those who can provide it for Xie, how can I contribute to the cause. Postage, DVD costs, anything?
