How I stopped worrying and learned to love the war....
So, tonight [personal profile] vamphile pointed out I missed four typos in her latest chapter in the Keeping Series, and since that's really unlike me, she wondered if I was maybe stressed out.

I burst into tears and I agreed that I was. And do you know, I've fallen right back into every stupid workaholic pattern I had before I got whooping cough? I'm working until midnight or later every night, letting my deadlines hit too close together, making bad use of my time, not leaving room in my schedule for fun,  or for unexpected things, for daily life like oh I don't know, that wildly unpredictable need to buy groceries now and then, phone sex, episode watching, fic writing, long walks with the dogs, and shoe shopping.... and doing my billing.

I haven't done my billing since February.

So vamph listened to this and asked me a few pertinent questions such as.... "Are you paying your quarterly taxes?"

I affirmed that I was.

"And your accountant based your quarterly estimates on the annual income you expected to bill for this year?"

I agreed that was the case.

"So in addition to letting the people who you haven't billed use your money interest free, you are paying the government taxes on money you haven't even received yet?"

I frowned. "Yes. Yes, I am."

"And are you really okay," she asked, "with letting the government use your money interest-free to finance an immoral war of occupation that you don't believe in?"

And there you have it. We're in Iraq, it's wrong, and it's my fault.

You know I can't lecture you on working habits, or sleep habits.

I can, however, reply to your late-night posts, because it's 4 am here and I'm very awake. WHEE.

Sigh. I'm going to try to go to bed now. I'm not working, just journaling.... god we're a mess!

Hopefully you'll be successful with the bedtime thing. I'm going to make an attempt now, too. BLEH.

*smooches goodnight*

You HAVE to slow down! Your body can't take the pace you set out. Hence - not unlikely - the whooping cough....

How are you with scheduling? Are you the type of person that can make one and stick to it? If you are - make one. And don't make one where you leave "grey areas" - because that will just undermine the whole thing. Do a strict schedule and stick to it. Try it for a week. Please?

I can stick to a schedule, but I keep saying, "Three days is plenty of time to write that article," agreeing to a deadline, and then realizing I have not allotted time to:

Sleep
Eat
Walk the dogs
Grocery shop
Vacuum
Do laundry
Have a life etc

And of course, not allotted any time for anything to go not as expected.

I have issues with saying "no."

I didn't go to work today, Xie, because I am sick. I am sick because of overworking and I know now it is not worth it. You must sleep and make yourself better so that you can write, not wreck your shoes and not fund the war in Iraq. Get better soon!

Well you have been under a lot of stress lately. Between whooping cough and your shoe tragedy a few things have slipped. But no one can blame the war on you. Bad nail polish possibly but not you.

*Hugs*

It's ironic I feel more at fault over funding the war than dripping nail polish on my shoes...

Oddly enough you don't make my list of people to blame for the war. And it's a long list. Even if you did, I'd use your user name, make the list alphabetical, and you'd be way down at the bottom. Not really worth mentioning.

Now get some sleep, watch a Brian heal Justin with his amazing powers of fucking, and put all the blame on "Fucking Repulicans." Debbie's orders. Because she's knows overworking can only lead to wig disasters.

awwww. *hugs. i wish there was a way that we could choose which taxes to pay. i mean, the only war i could ever support is if someone was attacking us, but is anyone? no. yet there's a war! i know the gov't does that so everything gets money that needs money, but it means that people pay for things that they'll never need or immoral things like war. it sucks!

hold on sweetie. think of the love!!! *hugs.

EXACTLY! I have no problem with paying taxes. They're the price of living in a compassionate and civilized society.

I just wish that's actually what they were being used for. :/

yeah. i mean, i support paying taxes, but i don't agree with so many programs the government has set up and i don't want to support them. only reasoning i can think of is that i don't want to go to jail. i mean, honestly! i could go on for hours about this, but i won't spam your board.

ooh. i got brian for [livejournal.com profile] icons100 if you wanna see some brian tushie.

the war is not your fault! (but i can think of several guilty parties!) i hope you'll take care of yourself so your body heals completely from your whooping cough ordeal. i find making lists helpful and then checking off items as i go along...very cathartic.

Xie, please take care of yourself. We want you around for a long time. We want you to be sane (or only insane in a good way) and healthy!

You have dogs that need you. You have people who care about you.
Do I need to get back-up?

YOU! It was you all along! *points* *stares* *judges*

letting the government use your money interest-free

Does that mean it would be less immoral if you were financing it through T Bills? ;)

yeah, but it got you to do some billing, so you know, my evil manipulative ways worked.

plus, seriously, paying taxes on money you haven't bothered to bill for... Ted would kick your ass.
