A Brief Observation on Justin's Hands

I'm finishing up an assignment that's due in less then one hour, but I need to take a brief break before doing a final proof of it or my head will explode. So I glanced over at my beloved wife happier_bunny's post on qaf_coffeeclub about the important licking theme in Queer as Folk.

Hey, it's MEDIA ANALYSIS!

And so I, thinking it might stop all flow of blood to clear my head, watched one of the scenes indicated as being a good example of this theme, hotel!sex. And in addition to the important thematic licking, I was reminded of something else.

I spend hours and hours working hard to get all the nuances of my characters right when I write fan fiction. I agonize over it. I may fail, I may succeed, but I really try. I care. I do research, and not all of it as pleasant as watching hotel!sex over and over.

So let this serve as notice to all Brian/Justin fan fic writers: Justin does not have "small hands." Stop saying he has small hands. Stop mentioning his small hands in your stories and sex scenes. In addition to being a little creepy, It's Not. True.

Justin has really big hands. Go watch hotel!sex. Force yourself. Justin puts his hands on Brian's waist while he's licking him (there's that important thematic thing again), and they are large. They really are.

Sigh. I will watch hotel!sex again since you insist. But might I suggest that you watch the romantical scene in 107 again because Brian does the licking/kissing thing down Justin's shoulder and back? It's pretty quick so you might have missed it. Or maybe it's in the extended version, so you will have to watch both to make sure you see it. It does confirm that Brian licking Justin is canon and I know that's important to you. There's a good hand size comparison in that scene too.

The boy looked hesitantly at the huge chair, then again at Brian’s rigid face and finally plodded with small steps in the ordered direction.

A little clumsy, he climbed on the unfamiliar sitting accommodation and peered one more time at the prince before timidly gripping the shiny fork. Shyly he began to eat.

Specifically, the large number of linguistic markers in these two paragraphs infantilizing a boy who is already mentally and emotionally digressed to about age 4 by autism.

Yeah, that is one of those things that gets around, isn't it? I noticed right away, cause of teh hand fetish, dontcha know, that his hands are damn near as big as Brian's. The 'tiny' thing of course comes from the difference between 5'8 and 6'2. On that scale, yeah.

And the hotel scene wasn't the only time I noticed that. It became very apparent in the Kip Thomas episode, when Justin touches Kip's face. I think that's when I rally realized how very, VERY masculine Justin's hands were.

Now, if we could just curb that nail-biting thing...

Sorry to hear about your problems. I know how much it sucks to be under a deadline/time frame and something completely unexpected delays finishing. Hope it's not too aggravating.
