“You can tell me it’s all bullshit if you want. You can throw our rings on the floor and tell me to fuck off. Go ahead.” I started to pull my ring off, his still in my palm, and Brian grabbed my hand and stood up. He didn’t let go of my hand, just pulled it up and shoved my ring back down on my finger.
and you say I schmoop the hell out of angst. YOU HAD THEM DECIDE TO WEAR THEIR RINGS MID FIGHT!
I think we need to get married again.
He laughed, and pulled me down on the sofa, and I crawled up onto him and pushed him against the arm, and kissed him. And we didn’t fuck, or talk. We just sat there in front of the fireplace, with the bullshit romantic fire and Christmas tree lights, and our wedding rings, and held onto each other until we fell asleep.
they’re sooo fucked up. I love them sooo much.
Christ, this was better than the best. Made of awesomeness and beauty, tinged with sadness and still all about the love.
I love that Brian’s the one sleeping for the both of them in this chapter. He doesn’t know what to do so he just…shuts down. And Justin of course can’t sleep. I love the give and take, the fact that both of them had the initial instincts to hide the rings from the other. That Brian DID hide the rings at first. That Justin decided that was stupid and left them out but then really didn’t want to talk about them.
Brian’s car being in the shop is just the worst thing he can think of.
Ben’s going into surgery, something’s wrong between he and Justin, he’s not comfortable in his own skin but hey, let’s focus on the car, or the rings, or the Christmas tree, or something else that has nothing to do with the issue.
I know you had other options and plans for some of these scenes and my insight into how you make your choices has opened my eyes to a lot of things. A) you’re really amazing and should trust your instincts. B) you can’t write angst. I mean you can, but when it gets really brutal, you lay out some rose petals and pad the walls and it’s really honestly wonderful. It makes your fics my happy place.
Can we get married a third time now?
Kthnx.
Beautiful job babe, really heart wrenching and heartwarming at the same time. HOW DO YOU DO THAT?
