I love this story! And you must write more. Your Brian & Justin are real & right. And - for the absolute 1st time in any QAF fic (and including the actual show - for that matter) - I find myself liking Melanie Marcus. You managed to do something CowLip never cared to do (and I say cared because I think those two old trolls just despise women in general and didn't spend any meaningful effort in making Mel or Linds what they could have been) - make Mel a layered person.

Besides Michael , my least favorite character has always been Linds. From my perspective, she's a closet manipulator with a self-serving, spoiled-girl agenda. I loved how you had Mel (nicely) call her on her bullshit:

“I think I do, but let me ask you something. How old were you when you met Brian?”

Lindsay didn’t answer for a long time. “Eighteen.”

“And you still love him.”

“That’s different.”

“Yes, it is. Brian loves Justin back.”
